New platform brings together advanced demolition technologies, safety policies and engineering solutions as Korea enters an era of aging infrastructure and large-scale urban renewal

K-Deconstruction Conference 2026 to address lessons from major demolition accidents, AI-based risk assessment, advanced deconstruction methods, and nuclear and industrial plant decommissioning

Special Zone to showcase blasting demolition, plant deconstruction, temporary structures, dust suppression, drones, AI safety management and other field-ready technologies

As Korea’s construction industry shifts from a focus on new construction toward maintenance, renovation and deconstruction, a new professional platform is being launched to strengthen the safety and technological competitiveness of the deconstruction industry and explore its future market potential.

KINTEX announced that the 2026 Korea International Construction & Industrial Safety Expo (K-CONSAFETY EXPO 2026), taking place from October 14 to 16, 2026 at KINTEX in Korea, will introduce the new Advanced Deconstruction Technology Zone. In conjunction with the exhibition, the K-Deconstruction Conference 2026 will be held on October 14.

Deconstruction Emerging as a Specialized Engineering Industry

With redevelopment of Korea’s first-generation new towns gaining momentum and the number of aging buildings and social infrastructure facilities continuing to increase, structural deconstruction is attracting attention as an emerging growth area within the construction industry.

The Korean construction industry expects the domestic deconstruction market to reach approximately KRW 6 trillion by 2030.

Recent demolition accidents, including the collapse during demolition work on Seoul’s Seosomun Overpass, have once again highlighted the importance of structural assessment, professional deconstruction planning, construction management and advanced safety technologies when dismantling aging infrastructure.

Against this backdrop, there are growing calls to transform the conventional demolition sector, which has traditionally relied heavily on experience and manpower, into a specialized engineering industry integrating structural engineering, safety, machinery, AI and environmental technologies.

From Blasting and Plant Deconstruction to Drones and AI Safety

The Advanced Deconstruction Technology Zone will present technologies and solutions covering the entire deconstruction lifecycle, including building and industrial facility deconstruction methods, demolition equipment, temporary structures, dust and environmental management, drones and unmanned technologies, and construction waste sorting.

• Inyoung Construction – Eco-friendly foam-based demolition technology and dry-cutting deconstruction methods for disaster-response applications
• Korea Casco – Temporary safety systems for deconstruction projects, including system scaffolding, soundproof panels, wall clamps and jack supports
• Korea Kacoh – Blasting demolition technologies for reinforced-concrete and steel structures
• Ilwoong Engineering – DFD (Demolition Factory Jack Down System) technology designed to reduce noise and dust as well as structural collapse and overturning risks
• Sungdo Construction Industry – Advanced technologies for complex industrial plant deconstruction
• Daeyoung Construction Industry Development and Janghyung Industrial Development – High-pressure water spraying equipment and construction waste sorting solutions for dust suppression
• Okdang Industry – AI-based safety management systems for deconstruction sites
• Puriflight – Drone-based smart construction safety systems capable of remotely accessing high-altitude and hazardous areas and spraying water close to airborne-dust generation points

K-Deconstruction Conference 2026: “Shaping the Future of K-Deconstruction”

Alongside the exhibition, the K-Deconstruction Conference 2026 will take place on October 14 from 12:30 p.m. at Conference Room 304, KINTEX Exhibition Center 1.

Under the theme “Shaping the Future of K-Deconstruction,” the conference will focus on the policy, technology and safety challenges shaping the future of Korea’s deconstruction industry.

2. Advanced deconstruction methods and international case studies
3. Seoul Metropolitan Government’s strengthened safety management measures for demolition sites
4. Lessons from the Gwangju Hak-dong and Seosomun Overpass demolition accidents and measures to prevent recurrence

6. AI-based risk assessment systems for deconstruction projects
7. Training and development of professional deconstruction specialists
8. Current status and outlook for nuclear facility and industrial plant decommissioning

Rather than treating recent demolition accidents simply as individual incidents, the conference will examine comprehensive prevention strategies from the perspectives of policy, technology, AI and professional workforce development. The program is therefore expected to attract strong interest from central and local governments, public-sector project owners, construction companies and specialized deconstruction contractors.

The conference is jointly organized by the Organizing Committee for the Advanced Deconstruction Technology Zone and Conference, the Structure Demolition & Scaffolding Works Council of KOSCA, the Forum for Advancement of the Deconstruction Industry, the Research Group for Safe Building Deconstruction Planning and Construction Technology Development, the Korea Building Deconstruction Technology Research Institute, and KINTEX.
