Outline the Workplace Safety and Health initiatives that have been implemented by you in your workplace in 2025.

In 2025, Ritik Raj Singh implemented several Workplace Safety and Health initiatives to strengthen safety performance at our construction and tunneling site. He introduced a Gantry Crane Permit system and an online work permit system for critical activities to ensure proper authorisation and safety checks before starting high-risk work.

He conducted inspections of heavy equipment, including a 750-ton crane, to ensure compliance with safety standards. Alcohol monitoring for drivers during the night shift was implemented to prevent unsafe driving practices. Pre-task safety briefings were made mandatory before any critical work to improve hazard awareness among workers.

In the NATM tunnel area, a face recognition system was implemented to monitor worker entry and exit for better safety control. Additionally, reverse cameras were installed in all vehicles to reduce the risk of reversing accidents. Along with regular site inspections, toolbox talks, proper barricading, safety signage, and strict PPE compliance, these initiatives helped improve hazard control and promote a proactive safety culture at the workplace.

Describe and support in detail on how your influencing capability has assisted in the successful implementation of these initiatives.

The successful implementation of these Workplace Safety and Health initiatives was achieved through continuous engagement, effective communication, and strong collaboration with workers, supervisors, and management. Regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task briefings were conducted to explain safe work practices and objectives clearly. Practical demonstrations and lessons from near-miss incidents encouraged active participation and improved understanding.

Close coordination with supervisors and engineers ensured compliance with critical systems such as online work permits, gantry crane permits, and alcohol monitoring for night shift drivers. Initiatives like face recognition in NATM tunnels and reverse cameras in vehicles were implemented with management support by highlighting their safety benefits.

Consistent follow-up, inspections, and positive reinforcement built trust, improved awareness, and strengthened compliance, creating a safer work environment.

Describe and provide support on how your initiative impacted the Safety and Health management and performance of your workplace/community/industry that was above and beyond.

The implemented initiatives significantly improved overall Safety and Health management by introducing proactive controls and strengthening accountability at all levels. Systems such as the online work permit for critical activities and the Gantry Crane Permit enhanced monitoring and authorisation of high-risk work, reducing unsafe operations. Alcohol monitoring for night-shift drivers and reverse camera installation in vehicles minimised transportation-related risks.

The face recognition system in the NATM tunnel improved worker tracking and emergency preparedness by ensuring accurate monitoring of personnel. Regular pre-task briefings, safety inspections, and awareness sessions encouraged active worker participation in hazard identification and reporting.

These measures enhanced compliance with safety procedures and fostered a proactive safety culture, where workers and supervisors took greater responsibility for safe practices. As a result, the workplace achieved improved safety awareness, better hazard control, and stronger overall safety performance beyond routine management practices.
