In your opinion, what are the attributes of a safety influencer? Do share with us on how you have demonstrated these attributes in your daily work that will earn you the recognition of a WSHAsia Safety Influencer Award Winner in your workplace/community/industry.

In Nibin Mathew's opinion, a true safety influencer isn’t just someone with titles or certifications—it’s someone who can shift mindsets, simplify complexity, and inspire action across every level. It takes authenticity, consistency, empathy, and technical clarity. "You need to lead from the front, not the desk—walk the floor, listen actively, and turn safety from a rule into a value", he said. He has demonstrated this by making safety personal and practical—using storytelling, case-based coaching, and frontline visibility to build trust. He introduced high-impact systems like the Occupational Risk Profiler, Lone Worker Protocol, and Confined Space Rescue Equipment, but what really made them work was the engagement—multilingual toolboxes, property-level SAG meetings, and recognition programmes that gave ownership back to the teams. He has made safety culturally relevant, operationally embedded, and strategically aligned with ESG and Net Zero goals. Whether it’s a site tech or a C-suite director, he has learned how to influence through results, not rhetoric. That’s why he believes that he stands as a strong contender for the WSHAsia Safety Influencer Award—not just for what he has delivered, but for how he helped others believe that safety is not a task—it’s who they are.
