Mona Rashed Almarzooqi is a researcher, educator, and passionate advocate for sustainability and learner-centered education. With a background in Water and Environmental Engineering and a strong foundation in Environmental Health, she brings a unique blend of academic research and practical teaching experience. As an EHS Trainer, Mona Rashed Almarzooqi has used her position to promote safety awareness, foster practical learning, and actively contribute to the development of students' skills, both inside and outside the classroom. She is continuously aiming to enhance students' engagement, safety knowledge, and readiness for real-world challenges. Following are some examples:
- Served as a Subject Matter Expert for EHS, contributing to the national qualification framework in Abu Dhabi.
- Completed 10+ professional development courses in 2024, accumulating over 80 hours of training, enhancing teaching, mentoring, and leadership skills.
- Developed and delivered EHS sessions for 100+ students, integrating Abu Dhabi regulatory requirements, practical activities, and VR simulations to enhance real-world application and safety awareness. Engaged learners in hands-on risk assessments and safety communication, and facilitated industry exposure visits.
- Mentored 40+ students through apprenticeships, supporting their professional growth in real workplace settings.
- Organised and led several initiatives, including an environmental awareness campaign and a sustainability exhibition, aimed at raising awareness and fostering a culture of responsibility.
- Led student-driven health and safety awareness campaigns, guiding them in the creation of safety posters for campus areas to promote sustainability and strengthen the workplace safety culture.

Mona Rashed Almarzooqi organised Sustainability Week activities at their institute, with student-led projects focusing on environmental protection. The event was also used to promote environmental awareness and increase the knowledge of various types of pollution and pollutants in the UAE, to inspire responsible practices among future industry professionals.
She also organised and led first-stage EHS learners in promoting a safety-first culture by guiding them to create and showcase posters and brochures on health and safety topics around the campus to promote safety cultures and key safety principles into daily student life.

Mona Rashed Almarzooqi included the students in the planning stage for both events. This helped to build a sense of ownership among the students rather than simply assigning tasks. Listening to their ideas and suggestions, empowering them to lead certain aspects of the events (such as booth setting, timing, etc.) also helped create a sense of responsibility and pride in the outcomes. Engaging both students and colleagues in meaningful ways by recognising that participation is critical to lasting change.

Involving students in projects related to environmental protection and pollution awareness, Mona Rashed Almarzooqi connected them to safety with real-world issues, making them learn both practical and meaningful. She also increased student engagement and also promoted a deeper understanding of how safety and health are inseparable from sustainability and industry best practices. Also, she guided EHS learners to create and display health and safety posters around campus, transforming safety from a set of rules into a visible, living culture that everyone contributed to which would help to improved daily safety awareness and encourage conversations on health and safety risks and solutions among students and staff alike.

Mona Rashed Almarzooqi continuously work on improving herself and always seek opportunities for continuous learning. In her daily work, she embed safety into every practical session and encourage students to see safety as an essential part of their professional identity. She strongly believes in the power of leading by example—demonstrating safe behaviours and reinforcing safety protocols in every classroom and workshop, showing students how seriously safety should be taken.
She believes effective communication is also the key. She always aim to communicate safety principles not only through instructions but by involving students in discussions, encouraging questions, and addressing their concerns to empower them and turn them into ambassadors of safety.
She has a strong commitment to cultivating and promoting a safety culture, which aligns directly with the values of a WSHAsia Safety Influencer Award Winner.
