Mohd Ridzwan bin Mohammad is 63 years old and has been a Safety Practitioner for 28 years. He started as a Workplace Safety Officer and is currently a director providing sub-consulting works in Workplace Safety and Health.

Mohd Ridzwan bin Mohammad had more than 20 million safe hours without fatality and supporting more than 4 main contractors achieving Singapore's Safety and Health Award Recognition for Project (SHARP) given by the Ministry of Manpower and Singapore's Workplace Safety and Health Council.

They established 'Safety Moment' where a safety topic shall be brought up and discuss prior to any meeting conducted by their stakeholders, contractors, and consultants. They also established a progressive incentive and disincentive scheme where contractors and consultants were audited to achieve certain KPIs to be rewarded with monetary incentives to be utilised to reward the workforce on a quaterly basis. The amount was up to SGD 2 million for each contract. However, similar disincentive would be administered with either not receiving the reward and even the possibility of monetary deduction if their KPIs were not met. One of the KPIs include active involvement of senior site and company management personnel in tool box sessions, site inspections, reviewing incidents and accidents with commitment to learnt from the lessons via workshops, and active participation in safety meetings and safety promotions.

Mohd Ridzwan bin Mohammad is always passionate on the role and even hold a position as the family head in a large family. The workforce is his extended family and ensure that each worker and site supervisor are able to approach him comfortably to air their concerns. Visiting the worksites is his priority to engage and communicate with each and every worker and site supervisors on site. He will also take the opportunity to sit with them during their meal breaks. He even visited the site during the graveyard hours to emphasis that their safety is the utmost importance at all times.

Many that came into the project do have a culture shock in term of safety expectation as their previous experience allows them to do minimally just to adhere to the regulations. New expectation such as mandatory to wear safety glasses, long sleeved attire, and have a cut resistant glove with them while on site, besides the mandatory PPE, is being enforced in many construction sites. Additional numbers of Safety Coordinators required as specified in the contract and the provision of bus(es) to transport the work crew from their place of residence to the workplace. Mohd Ridzwan bin Mohammad was a member of the industry-led taskforces, i.e. National Work-At-Height taskforce and National Safe Lifting Operation taskforce. He was also as an Executive Committee member in Singapore Institute of Safety Officer (SISO).
