For her, leadership is about challenging the status quo — in how we do business and how we protect people. Linda Lim Yan Beng is a driving force in maritime safety, championing the Purpose Fit Safety PPE for Seafaring Women initiative. Recognising the risks female seafarers face, she spearheaded the development of safety gear tailored for women, enhancing comfort, mobility, and protection. She collaborated with industry leaders to promote equity and inclusivity and ensure gender specific PPE becomes a standard in maritime operations. She spearheaded the Confined Space Rescue, a specialised emergency response, in the marine industry. It requires trained personnel, specialised equipment, and strict safety protocols. Key techniques include rapid emergency response, controlled ascend and descent, and structured evacuation procedures, minimising risks to both victims and rescuers. She also has conducted numerous training in their office and on customers’ sites, educating and promoting safety at work.

Linda Lim Yan Beng implemented the wearable safety technology named MakuSafe to monitors EHS hazards like slips, trips, falls, strain, exertion, sound exposure, and air quality. The real-time notifications and voice reported near-misses, enable proactive safety management, risk mitigation, and loss control before incidents occur. Linda Lim Yan Beng has influenced the successful implementation of the Purpose Fit Safety PPE for Seafaring Women initiative by aligning our technical and R&D teams with practical customer needs. She also collaborated with key customers to tailor the female PPE for their test and trial. She gain their trust and buy-in. The initiative is framed around our their principle of “for workers, by workers”. This association creates strong relevance and credibility, making it a smooth adoption process and acceptance.

Linda Lim Yan Beng believes a safety influencer should possess vision, credibility, and collaboration. Vision to see beyond compliance and push boundaries to create safer, more inclusive environments. She has done this by spearheading the Purpose Fit Safety PPE for Seafaring Women initiative—anticipating and addressing a long-overlooked risk in the maritime industry. This initiative not only improved personal safety but also raised industry awareness on gender-inclusive standards. Credibility to walk the talk. She managed to earn the trust of their key customers by aligning safety solutions with customers’ practical needs. This can be seen in their collaborative approach to developing and test-trial the women’s PPE, which was built on practical feedback and iterative improvement. Collaboration to create strong impact.
