Vikneskumar, a self-driven high-performance individual with excellent inter-personal skills, I have the ability to bring people together to achieve the shared organisational goals, highly adaptive to the ever-changing challenges and demands with a positive demeanour. Through my work experience in workplace safety and project management, I am motivated by my vision of creating a safer and healthier workplace environment for all employees, driven by practical innovative solutions and collaborative initiatives with inter-functional teams to bring together diverse perspectives and to achieve the organisational mission and goals.

In 2023, Vikneskumar has initiated a variety of programmes which aim to support the social integration and psycho-social well-being of our migrant workers in Singapore, each programme is tailored-made to address the needs of our migrant workers such as Tamil-English Language Training, Scams and Dormitory Safety Workshop, and Legal Assistance Schemes. Beyond the scope of educational training, other activities have also been initiated to engage and deepen the migrant worker social integration through Games Day Sports Tournaments and Cultural Tour. These programmes were initiated and collaborated with Singapore Youth Volunteer group (Sinda Youth Club & Narpani Pearavai Youth), Singapore Traffic Police, Singapore Red Cross Society, and the Singapore Kindness Movement to leverage on knowledge-sharing on expertise and to forge positive partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
Outline the Workplace Safety and Health initiatives that have been implemented by you in your workplace in 2023.
In 2023, Vikneskumar with his active engagements he has implemented various Workplace Safety and Health initiatives in the workplace through conducting of educational and awareness workshops such as Safety Enforcement in Dormitory, Scams Awareness, and Workplace Safety & Health. Beyond the scope of training and development, he was the leading role in using safety digital technology tools for data analytics gathering to monitor safety compliance and to review on Annual Safety and Environmental Impact Assessments and propose Action Plans for senior management team. Being digital and social savvy, Vikneskumar played a pivotal role in content creation for social media marketing and outreach initiatives to drive the organisational goals and message to the target audience.
My proficiency in community partnerships and digital strategy led me to:
- Conduct workshops of safety enforcement (scams & dormitory belonging safe keeping).
- Utilising safety digital technology tool to promote top-down in organisation.
- Conduct Safety Campaigns and Safety Promotions.

The safety influencing capability embedded within my design has proven instrumental in ensuring the successful implementation of various initiatives. By prioritising safety considerations, I've helped organisations pre-emptively identify and mitigate potential risks, fostering a culture of proactive hazard management through real-time monitoring and data analysis. I have empowered decision-makers with data-centric insights to optimise safety protocols and resource allocation. With the skills competencies and the experiences gained, I’m able to forecast and simulate potential scenarios which enables stakeholders to develop comprehensive contingency plans, minimising disruptions, and maximising preparedness. In addition, I've facilitated greater adherence to safety guidelines and protocols through promoting safety consciousness among stakeholders while reducing the likelihood of accidents and incidents. My safety influencing capability serves as a critical pillar in safeguarding both human well-being and organisational assets, thereby cemented the overall success and sustainability of implemented initiatives.
Describe and provide support on how your initiative impacted the Safety and Health management and performance of your workplace/community/industry that was above and beyond.
Utilising advanced data analytics and predictive modelling which identified previous unnoticed safety trends and emerging risks that has enabled proactive intervention before any potential incidents. This initiative has led to a transformative impact on the safety and health management within the workplace and the community which I’ve served. Moreover, with the use and implementation of application tools, it has helped to streamline safety processes, thus enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in incident response. Beyond the scope of identification and risks management, I was proactive in promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability which has instilled a sense of strong ownership among stakeholders and resulted in heightened vigilance and strict compliance to safety protocols. The methodology used during the training were focused on continuous learning environment which has fostered a dynamic safety ecosystem where lessons from past incidents are actively leveraged to enhance future performance, ensuring sustained safety excellence that is adaptable to the current and emerging needs of the industry.

The key attributes of a safety influencer goes beyond just fulfilling the primary role to ensure and advocate workplace safety and employee well-being, it requires proactive leadership with effective communication skills to steer the organisation towards compiling to prevailing safety regulations and protocols, in addition the safety influencer should have the skills competencies and problem-solving abilities to identify potential risks, and set the standards for the organisation. Above all, I have demonstrated the attributes by playing a pivotal role in leading the cause with targeted goals and effectively engaging with all stakeholders, through my experience and contributions, I have also proactively identified and addressed potential safety issues, implementing innovative solutions to enhance safety practices and to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement. In recognition of my efforts and contributions, I was recognised and being awarded with the “WSHAsia Safety Influencer Award Winner 2024”.
