I am Jaganathan Jeyavel (Timothy), and in 2008, I began my WSH career, gaining extensive knowledge in Oil & Gas, Construction, and Cable Installation. Joining LIANG & HOW CONTRACTOR P/L as a WSH Coordinator in 2012 and ascended to Corporate Safety Manager. It is a privilege and honor to be nominated for the WSHAsia Outstanding Safety Practitioner Award, having earned First-Class Honours in BSc (Hons) Safety, Health, and Environmental Management. In 2023, I had the honour of receiving the bizSAFE Champion Award from the WSH Council, highlighting our commitment to safety. We garnered prestigious accolades, including SP Group's Safety Circle of Excellence and the bizSAFE Enterprise Exemplary Award. Furthermore, we achieved Singtel's Gold Award for our exceptional performance in WSH Enhanced Safe Contractor Accreditation. Subsequently, we also joined the bizSAFE Partner Programme.
I played a crucial role in securing these awards by introducing both initiatives to our organisation and advocating for their pursuit. I offered comprehensive guidance on the necessary requirements and document preparation to fulfil the criteria for these prestigious awards. Additionally, I actively participated as the auditee throughout the entire audit process, significantly contributing to our company's success in attaining these accolades. Moreover, I shared our best practices with clients and contractors, strengthening safety practices across the industry.
Furthermore, I spearheaded the implementation of the Electronic Permit-to-Work System and the Peer Support Leaders Training Programme to equip participants with emergency response skills. I introduced AHHAAS for Excavator with AI technology to prevent accidents, utilising dynamic geofencing and alarms. Additionally, I launched the Heat Stress Management Programme to address heat stress among outdoor workers, providing education and isotonic drinks for hydration and safety in high temperatures.

In 2023, I initiated and oversaw the Total WSH Programme, centred on enhancing safety and health standards. With 761 participants and an impressive 97.9% engagement rate, it proved highly successful. In September 2023, I coordinated the WSH Assistance Visits Programme, wherein a WSH professional provided invaluable insights for risk mitigation. In August 2023, I implemented the Electronic Permit-to-Work System, streamlining approvals and maintaining permit integrity. Push notifications expedited the process, while real-time PDF reports facilitated monitoring.
In July 2023, I orchestrated the Peer Support Leaders Training Programme to equip participants with skills to aid colleagues in emergencies, resulting in certificates endorsed by HealthServe, MOM, and MWC. I introduced AHHAAS in July 2023 for the Excavator with AI technology to prevent accidents, utilising dynamic geofencing and visual/audible alarms. In April 2023, we joined as bizSAFE Partners, prioritising safety culture, collaboration, compliance, support, knowledge sharing, policy evaluation, and industry advocacy to all our business partners.

My capacity to influence has played a crucial role in driving the successful implementation of WSH initiatives. Through my leadership, we obtained approval from senior management following extensive discussions, underscoring our steadfast commitment to these programmes.
My persuasive skills were pivotal in garnering support for initiatives like the Total WSH Programme and the Electronic Permit-to-Work System. Aligning these initiatives with organisational goals ensured the allocation of necessary resources.
By articulating the importance of WSH and mental well-being programmes such as the WSH Assistance Visits Programme and the Peer Support Leaders Training, I gained buy-in across all levels, ensuring widespread participation.
Overcoming resistance from subcontractors and team members necessitated adept negotiation skills. Effective communication persuaded them to embrace new safety initiatives. Leveraging translators or interpreters during briefing sessions ensured inclusivity and clarity.
Advocacy and communication efforts fostered a safety culture, instilling responsibility and commitment among employees. Demonstrating commitment earned the trust of staff and subcontractors. Flexibility and the use of virtual platforms showcased dedication to keeping initiatives on track.

In 2023, I presented the Company's Best Workplace Safety and Health Practices, initiatives, and achievements to our client, Singtel, and fellow contractors. Their positive feedback and appreciation for our efforts were palpable.
I recommended PEARL CONNECTS PTE. LTD. to engage in the bizSAFE program to enhance their WSH capabilities. They promptly embarked on the programme, achieving bizSAFE Level 2 and are currently preparing for Level 3.
Additionally, I introduced HealthServe's Mental Wellness Education and Awareness Program to Mr. Kandasamy Dineshkumar, a Safety Professional, who successfully implemented it for his company in May 2023. Similarly, I advocated for the programme at UK Engineering & Construction Pte. Ltd. to raise awareness about mental health in the workplace.
Through proactive efforts, I initiated safety programmes and nurtured a culture of safety and wellness across our industry. My influential contributions garnered numerous appreciations from various industries, the WSH Council, and authorised service providers' organisations.
The Managing Director of our Sub-Contractor, Unicom Engineering Pte. Ltd., personally recognised my exceptional commitment. He commended my proactive approach and attention to detail, which have cultivated a secure working environment, effectively mitigating risks. In acknowledgment of this, he expressed appreciation through a written letter for safeguarding their employees at work.

In my humble opinion, I believe I deserve the WSHAsia Award 2024. Embarking on my journey in Workplace Safety and Health at 21 in Singapore in 2010, I have continuously refined my skills over the past fourteen years.
I have spearheaded safety initiatives, resulting in notable achievements for our company and myself. My work ethic, characterised by fairness and integrity, has earned trust and respect among colleagues.
Moreover, my commitment to safety extends beyond professionalism to genuine care for people. I set an example, collaborate effectively, and communicate safety messages persuasively, prioritising safety and attentively addressing concerns.
During safety training, I utilise visual aids and demonstrations to aid comprehension, particularly for new migrant workers. Additionally, I administer safety quizzes to reinforce learning and allocate additional time for workers with limited education, arranging interpreters as needed to accommodate different languages.
My friendly demeanour fosters inclusivity among workers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I demonstrated genuine care by delivering food to quarantined workers and occasionally buying fruits during hot weather, prioritising their well-being.
In summary, with divine grace, my unwavering dedication has significantly impacted safety culture and outcomes in my workplace, community, and industry. I genuinely believe I deserve the WSHAsia Safety Influencer Award.
