About Hermel
I'm Hermel T. Germino, 48 years old ,married with two kids from the Philippines and a graduate of Naturopathic Medicine and practicing Safety profession for almost 11 years here in the Philippines.I'm also an accredited Occupational Safety and Health Practitioner of Department of Labor and Employment - Philippines ,presently working in IPM Constructions and Development Corporation as Safety Manager and a part time Naturopathic Medicine Practitioner every Saturday and Sunday at Rentiff Family Clinic.
List the Safety and Health achievements/contributions you have achieved in 2023.
The IPM Construction and Development Corporation that I worked with received the Award of Excellence and Perfect Safety Record from the Safety Organisation of the Philippines Inc. because of 14,636,733 safe man-hours without a lost time accident. I also received an award for Outstanding Safety Practitioner 2023 from the Safety Organisation of the Philippines. The company that I'm working with is now well-known for being very particular regarding safety matters.
Outline the Workplace Safety and Health initiatives that have been implemented by you in your workplace in 2023.
I always remind them of what to do so that they will bear in mind the safety practices that need to be followed. I discuss with them the proper ways of using equipment, proper positioning to prevent ergonomics issues, and using the right tools for the right activity. I ensure that all equipment must be inspected before using it and verified monthly to ensure that it is safe to use.
Describe and support in detail on how your influencing capability has assisted in the successful implementation of these initiatives.
We, the personnel and workers, are fully supportive of safety because we always remind each other if we notice that one of the workers is engaging in an unsafe act. We report any unsafe conditions that we notice to prevent accidents and join activities regarding safety to ensure everyone is aware of safety.
Describe and provide support on how your initiative impacted the Safety and Health management and performance of your workplace/community/industry that was above and beyond.
I am fully supportive in regards to materials, financial, manpower, and other resources to implement safety in the company to prevent accidents or illnesses to the personnel and workers. I am also helping personnel and workers to remind all of us that safety starts from us. We are giving more time and effort to implement safety to everyone.

It motivates me even more, knowing that our commitment to safety not only benefits our team but also raises awareness within the community. By prioritizing safety in the workplace, we not only prevent harm and accidents but also attract more clients who value our dedication to safety. Our reputation for being safety-conscious enhances our credibility and fosters trust among clients, leading to increased communication and collaboration opportunities. Ultimately, our proactive approach to safety not only safeguards our workforce but also strengthens our relationships with clients and stakeholders.
