I am Hazman Ikhwan bin Mohamad Sabri. My academic journey has been marked by dedication and perseverance, resulting in a Master's in Occupational Safety & Health and Risk Management from OUM. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in Bioresource and Food Industry from UniSZA. I have been a seasoned safety practitioner in the oil and gas industry since 2009, with expertise honed across Malaysia and Brunei. At present, I hold the position of Manager, HSE Rig, specializing as a Subject Matter Expert in Radiation Safety & Protection and Ergonomics. As a certified Trainer by Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDC) and Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) for the Vision ZERO Program, I am dedicated to enhancing occupational safety and health.

Development of Human Factor Module and Workshop: My involvement in developing this module has significantly impacted ergonomic practices, contributing to the enhancement of safety and health in the workplace.
Gold Award in the 2023 Top Most Influential People Award by MOSHPA: This recognition acknowledges my outstanding contributions to the field of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), highlighting my efforts to promote best practices and improve safety standards.
Speaker at Forums and Conferences: My selection and invitation by Malaysian authorities to speak at forums and conferences indicate my expertise and leadership in HSE, allowing me to share insights and experiences that contribute to shaping discussions, policies, and strategies for enhancing safety and health standards across industries.
Impactful Programs and Activities at Kemaman Supply Base: During my tenure, I conducted programs and activities in collaboration with local authorities among tenants and clients, likely focusing on raising alertness level and awareness, providing training, and implementing measures to improve HSE performance and outcomes within Supply Base. These efforts contributed to fostering a safer and healthier work environment for all stakeholders involved.

The Generative Safety Leadership Workshop (GSLW) is a transformative program I had designed together with appointed consultants for key stakeholders, demanding unwavering commitment from top management and client representatives. Tailored for supervisors and higher-level personnel, its overarching aim is to instil a pervasive safety culture within the organization, where every employee assumes personal responsibility for safety outcomes. Through dynamic and immersive sessions, participants are equipped with the tools to lead by example, communicate safety imperatives effectively, and integrate safety considerations seamlessly into daily operations. Real-world case studies and interactive exercises underscore the importance of proactive risk management and foster a deep understanding of the human factors influencing safety performance. By empowering leaders to champion safety initiatives and nurture a collaborative approach to hazard mitigation, the workshop catalyses a paradigm shift towards performance-driven, operations-focused safety.
The Safe Offshore Crew Workshop (SOCWOO) is a paramount initiative ensuring alignment with management expectations, endorsed by client representation. Open to all offshore crew, its primary objective is to cultivate a unified belief in safety excellence, fostering team coaching leadership and aligning with management's HSE leadership directives. Through immersive experiences and collaborative learning, participants gain a deeper understanding of their collective responsibility towards safety. By instilling a shared commitment to safety principles and reinforcing the importance of proactive leadership, the workshop aims to empower our offshore crew to achieve unparalleled safety standards and operational excellence.

My influencing capability has played a pivotal role in the successful implementation of both the GSLW and the SOCWOO. Firstly, in the GSLW, my ability to effectively communicate the importance of safety culture to top management and client representatives was instrumental in securing their commitment and resources. By articulating the tangible benefits of fostering a safe workplace, such as improved morale, reduced incident rates, and enhanced productivity, I gained their buy-in and support for the initiative. Similarly, in the SOCWOO, my influencing skills were crucial in rallying all offshore crew members behind the shared goal of safety excellence. Through persuasive communication and tailored messaging, I conveyed the significance of each individual's role in upholding safety standards and emphasized the collective impact of their actions on the well-being of the entire team. By inspiring a sense of ownership and accountability for safety outcomes, I fostered a culture of mutual support and collaboration among the crew. Overall, my ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization has facilitated the smooth execution of these initiatives, ensuring widespread participation, engagement, and commitment to achieving our safety objectives.

These initiatives have profoundly elevated safety and health management performance, surpassing industry norms. We implemented a holistic approach, integrating cutting-edge technology and proactive collaboration to foster a culture of safety excellence. Investing in advanced safety technologies such as real-time monitoring systems and predictive analytics has revolutionized the risk management capabilities. By proactively identifying potential hazards and implementing preventive measures, we have significantly reduced the likelihood of incidents. Collaboration has been key to our journey of success. We've forged partnerships with industry peers, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to share best practices and raise safety standards collectively. Our joint initiatives, such as safety audits and knowledge-sharing forums, have contributed to a safer working environment not only within our company but across the industry. Through these initiatives, we've demonstrated our unwavering commitment to prioritising the safety and well-being of our workforce, setting new benchmarks for safety performance in the oil and gas sector.

Attributes of a safety influencer in the role of Manager, HSE Rig, include exemplary leadership, effective communication, technical expertise in HSE, dedication to continuous improvement, and a genuine commitment to employee well-being. As a safety influencer, I lead by example, ensuring that safety is always the top priority on the rig. I communicate safety expectations clearly to all team members, fostering open dialogue and collaboration to address safety concerns proactively.
My technical expertise in HSE enables me to identify and mitigate potential hazards effectively, implementing best practices and innovative solutions to enhance safety performance. I demonstrate dedication to continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and updating safety procedures, conducting thorough inspections, and providing ongoing training workshops to ensure that all personnel are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to work safely.
Above all, I genuinely care about the well-being of every member of the offshore crew, taking the time to listen to their concerns, provide support, and recognize their contributions to safety. By embodying these attributes in my daily work, I have earned the respect and trust of my colleagues, making me a deserving recipient of the WSHAsia Safety Influencer Award in my workplace.
