About Fahmi Abdullah Basyari
As an Environment Health and Safety Enthusiast, I embarked on my journey after graduating from marine science at one of Indonesia's premier universities. Since then, I have been actively engaging in competency training in the field of environment, health, and safety, continuously enhancing my capacity as an enthusiast in this domain. From the moment I stepped out of college until the present day, my commitment to learning and growing in environmental health and safety remains unwavering.

In 2023, I, along with Kerry Ingredients Indonesia, achieved the Indonesia Safety Excellence Award. This accolade recognised us for Best Safety Management, securing the Best Health and Safety Award in the Manufacture Category, being distinguished as the Best Green Company, and earning the title of Best Health & Safety Leadership of The Year.
Furthermore, I am proud to announce that we attained the Safety Committee Award from the Ministry of Manpower, as well as the P2HIV Award, also granted by the Ministry of Manpower.
Our commitment to safety was further underscored by the successful implementation of 100% LIFE Saving Rules, which were rigorously audited by a competent third party.
Additionally, we were honoured to achieve 100% Environment Management Performance, a distinction bestowed upon us by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
Outline the Workplace Safety and Health initiatives that have been implemented by you in your workplace in 2023.
The Kerry LIFE Saving Rules programme is designed to prevent life-changing injuries and fatal events for all individuals working within Kerry Facilities, including contractors, cleaners, drivers, and others. The programme encompasses several key components:
- "My Safety, Our Safety" (Leadership and Planning)
- Falling from Height
- Onsite Vehicles
- Confined Space Entry
- Control of Hazardous Energies
- Permit to Work
- Hazardous Substances
- Control of Explosive Atmospheres
This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to "Safety First, Quality Always" onsite, adhering to the guiding principle of never compromising on the safety of our people or the quality and safety of our products.
The programme undergoes thorough auditing by a competent third party to review the implementation of all LIFE Saving Rules.
Describe and support in detail on how your influencing capability has assisted in the successful implementation of these initiatives.
To bolster the Kerry LIFE Saving Rules Program, we have devised a comprehensive campaign aimed at promoting awareness and providing training to all employees. Each point of the LIFE Saving Rules is addressed through separate training sessions for all staff members, ensuring thorough understanding and adherence.
Utilising both online and offline media channels, such as email distribution, WhatsApp sharing, and posters displayed across all areas, we disseminate information about the campaign. Additionally, we conduct internal audits of each LIFE Rules point to assess the implementation onsite, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
Furthermore, the Kerry LIFE Saving Rules are integrated into daily briefings within each department. This daily reinforcement serves to instill the rules in the minds of our employees, fostering a robust safety culture and prioritising the well-being of our workforce.
Describe and provide support on how your initiative impacted the Safety and Health management and performance of your workplace/community/industry that was above and beyond.
From this programme, there is a very positive impact on safety culture and safety management, as can be seen from the achievement of 2500 days without recordable incidents and also the achievement of 100% Kerry LIFE Saving Rules, which have been audited by a competent third party, as well as the many achievements in terms of environment, health, and safety that have been obtained.

A safety influencer is a person who can mingle with people in every department and position level to be able to influence the basics of environment, health, and safety and ensure the culture is applied in daily life without direct pressure from other parties.
